Man, that was pretty weird, huh?  How much of all that do you guys think actually happened?  Was it an illusion or something?  Or maybe it was a really long and awesome dream?  Either way, the people in charge around here must be pretty powerful mages to affect a whole town like that for so long.

I'm glad the robot's gone and everything, but I kind of wish they'd have let me keep my other stuff from home.  But they left me the most important thing, so I can't complain too much.  Anyway, if anybody wants to join me since the weather's warmed up, I'm gonna be shooting some hoops after school today!

[Action; Friday afternoon - Mayfield High Gymnasium]

[Just like she said, Yuna's in the school gym after hours today, practicing on the basketball court.  She's wearing a loose shirt and boys' athletic shorts for lack of anything suitable for girls, dribbling the ball up and down the court and taking practice shots.  The hoop's too high up for her to get any awesome dunk shots or anything, but she does land over 90% of the shots she takes from mid-court or closer.  Anyone can feel free to come and join her during her practice, or when she's gone over to the bleachers for a water break]

Hah... I wonder if anyone would be interested in starting up a girls' team?

[Action; Friday night - Makeout Point]

[Yuna didn't announce this, but late Friday evening after the sun goes down, she's up at Makeout Point to practice some gunplay.  It's secluded and out of the way, she reasons, and the fact that she might be interrupting some hot dates seems not to have occurred to her.  At any rate, she draws a small rectangular card out of her pocket.]

Adeat!

[As the command leaves her lips, the card flashes and transforms Yuna into an awesome gunner outfit complete with magical pistol.]

All right, time to get some practice in!

[And she begins running all through the area, dodging left and right and strafing while firing magically charged bullets at rocks and various other pieces of scenery.]

[As promised, Koyomi shows up though he definitely looks a bit hesitant. He's really starting to question whether this was a good idea at all, and how much a fool of himself he'll probably make...

But as she spots him, he realizes he has no choice but to carry through now. At least it's not Kanbaru]

[Yuna smiles and waves as she sees him approaching.]

Hey... Huh?!

[He barely raises his arms in time to catch the ball, not seeing it coming at all until nearly the last second. Though he manages to catch it, he's clearly a bit rattled.]

Wh, what was that for!?

[He just stares at her in confusion for a bit before letting out a sigh, an startling to dribble the ball a bit...

Before shooting at the basket and missing completely with a spectacular air ball.]

Er... whoops.

[Yuna smiles, laughing a little as she runs out to retrieve the ball. She passes it back to him.]

Here, bend your knees like this when you shoot.

[She demonstrates the posture.]

And then use your legs to give the shot some momentum. Once you're at the top of the jump, steady the ball with one hand and shoot it with the other. You get better accuracy with a one-handed release.

[Yuna goes through the whole motion for him.]

Try it like that!

[He walks over to go pick up the discarded ball, before doing what she told him. Or at least, his closest approximation... it's not quite right, but a lot better than what he was doing before at any rate.

As he releases the ball it actually hits the rim this time, though it's still a bit shy of actually going in the hoop.]

Some improvement's better than nothing I guess.

Well, I've been on the team for a while.

[Yuna grins, flashing a V for victory sign.]

But yeah, it just takes practice. Everybody has to start somewhere, right?

[He nods as he walks over to pick up the ball once more, doing his best to follow her instruction again.]

What got you into basketball anyway?

[And he shoots... and manages to make a basket this time, miraculously.]

[Yuna smiles and chases after the ball, practicing a shot of her own before passing it back again.]

I dunno... it looked fun, so I thought I'd try out for the team when I was old enough and I guess things just clicked for me. Dad says I was always a pretty energetic kid, so I guess it makes sense I'd get into sports eventually.

That makes sense. There are some things you can't figure out about yourself until you just try stuff... I never really bothered trying any sports myself.

Just never felt inclined to I guess.

[She'll start taking turns making shots with him, sometimes going out to half court to try for three pointers.]

[After she manages a particularly difficult three point shot, he'll just applaud admiringly.]

It's only natural to try to conform strange new things to your paradigm rather than shift the paradigm completely. Er, that is to say, it makes more sense to just make a small assumption like that then suddenly jump to conclusion that it's got some greater meaning.

It looks easy on tv but there's really a lot of stuff you have to keep in mind, huh...
